About

We’re excited to finally offer a contest for our recently-added March issue. The Fieldguide Poetry Magazine loves moments where nature and human emotion connect. We want to learn what brought you to the woods behind your home, the daily tilling in your garden, and your serendipitous discovery of a new stream, meadow, or flower field. Let us feel the crisp autumn air with you, smell the foliage, and see the moonlight on the water. How did your heart sing, falter, or doubt in these moments? How did your emotions color the experience?

Guidelines

The contest is open between February 1 – March 15, 2023. Winners announced March 24, 2023

We only accept poetry up to 20 lines. Each submission is $5. Poets can submit as many poems as they like, but please have only one per submission.

One grand winner will be awarded $200 and guaranteed publication on our website and in our March issue. The second and third place winners will also have guaranteed publication.

We will not accept poetry with foul language, pornography, or in support of the inhumane treatment of people or animals.

When you’re ready to submit, fill out the form below. Please provide your name, email address, and poem, and then click the contest fee button to make the $5 donation on our Ko-Fi page.

About

Our sister magazine, Honeyguide Literary Magazine, is partnered with All About Pets Rescue, an animal shelter in Long Island, New York. Proceeds from the contest support the animals’ medical care, food and bedding, and overall welfare.

All About Pets Rescue primarily rescues cats but takes in any animal in severe crisis, including livestock, wildlife, and small pets. The founder has also partnered with the local pound to save animals on the kill list.

The building had to close its doors due to financial difficulties following COVID-19, but the rescue continues out of the founder’s home. Although she is happy to keep saving animals, it was far easier to organize adoptions, meet potential adopters, host charity events and provide more space for the animals in a separate building. She is saving to reopen the shelter in the future, and we want to help fund that project.

The founder is also celebrating the birth of her first grandchild!

You can find out more on their website, social media pages, and our main website at www.honeyguidemag.com.
