Art Crimes
Carve out new images
fillet and scrape
at my mind until the soft
and familiar grind away.
Hold each line just long
enough, drop it like an apple
with russet skin in October
wind or a baby overboard
for safety. Let words
ooze and spread, too much
butter but why not? Or mud
between toes that know
both laughter and otherwise.
If these lines fail, fall too
much like a line of dominoes
or water from a pot left
on the stove, arrest me.
I’ll be right here, trying
again.
